Pet Portraits & Commisions

PASTEL PORTRAIT DETAILS

for Pastel Portraits on Clairefontaine Pastelmat.

By far the most popular choice for animal portraiture, be it your much loved pet or a wildlife subject of your choice, pastel is one of my clients favourites. Given the soft nature of this medium, fur and feathers take on a depth and detail that is beyond realistic, coupled with the stunning depth achieved and detail.

OIL PAINTING PORTRAIT  DETAILS

for Oil Paintings created on Canvas or Board

Oil paintings are more a traditional medium with bold deep colours and a crisp result. They have vibrancy and movement and are very expressive and textured. Many layers can be added to create a beautiful depth unrivalled with other mediums.

Portraits are painted onto unframed canvas, and unframed wooden panel. All materials are of the highest quality. If a client requires a portrait framed with an Oak surround an additional fee will be agreed apon at the time of Portrait Commission and some alternative sizes of different parameters may also be available, eg: square, depending on availability.

For all other commissions of larger sizes and commissions other than pet or wildlife portraits an individual quote can be obtained.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Here is a list of Terms and Conditions that need to be read carefully and agreed to if commissioning Denise Krajnc to complete a piece of artwork.

Payment of a deposit would certify you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.
Deposit for Portrait Commissioned Artwork

When a commission is booked a client will deposit a payment of 50% of the cost of the artwork that is required. This payment is non-refundable and assists in covering the costs, excepting if the artist for any unforeseeable circumstances cannot complete the artwork.

Added Costs

I work from photographs to create your portraits and other unrelated commission works and on occasion a client will need to merge images in a more complex way, use multiple photos to create changes other than how they appear in photo, at the time of conception of a portrait this may create an additional charge at the artists discretion.

Extra Elements and Alteration Charge

Pricing as listed is based on a bust or full body portrait of one or multiple animal subjects and commissioned works of client’s choice. If there is an element (such as backgrounds, foliage, or objects that require more work and time) it will incur an extra charge.

Due to my planning and communication, I endeavor to provide all the necessary sketches, updates of regular photos as a portrait is in progess. However sometimes certain alterations of an individual aspect may need reworking during my process. Many are easily fixed and are classed as minor and no extra charge is necessary (eg slight shade of colour) but should major changes be required they will warrant extra charge. Due to the nature of Pastels, working on fine velour, changes are much harder as opposed to oils on board, so be mindful of this in the planning stage.

As of 2023 flat rate for extra elements and major alteration is at $40 per hour.

Payments and Postage of Work

The final balance of payment is due on completion of the work. Clients are to pay the final balance within one week of completion date, unless another payment date has been discussed and agreed prior.

Where payment cannot be completed in this time, an extension may be granted, at the artist’s discretion.

Under no circumstances will any work be posted or shipped out until the whole payment (including the cost of postage/shipping) has been received in full.

In the most unlikely event that a client is completely unhappy with a commissioned artwork, and the artist is not able to adjust the work to the client’s satisfaction, the order can be cancelled. The artist retains the right to keep the deposit (no more than 50% of the cost of the portrait) to cover a portion of the time spent creating the artwork and materials used. The outstanding payment will be cancelled, and any installment payments made outside of the 50% deposit will be refunded.

Non-completion of Payments

If there is a failure to complete payment in the agreed time period inclusive of any agreed extension, and the work is complete, the sale will be cancelled. Any remaining monies already paid will not be refundable.

Also if the client decides the piece is no longer wanted or required and work has begun, the artist reserves the right to keep the deposit (50% of the cost of the portrait) to cover a portion of the artist’s time and costs.

Postal Damage and Loss

Should an artwork suffer damage whilst in the postal system, photographs of the damage must be emailed to the artist, so that the possibility of repair can be assessed. If repair is possible, the artwork can be returned to the artist for repair. The artist will reimburse any costs the client pays for returning the artwork, and will pay for the repaired artwork to be posted back to the client.
If the damage is irreparable, and the artwork is a commissioned portrait, the artwork can be re-done. Although the artist will endeavor to carry out the replacement piece at the soonest convenience, please note that due to other commitments it may not be possible to do so straight away, and or if commission portrait is lost in transit by postal system.

If the lost or irreparably damaged artwork is an original painting (ie not a pet portrait done to specification), a replacement may not be possible. In this case, the buyer will be refunded.

Copyright and Use of Commissioned Images

Under all circumstances, the copyright of the finished artwork is retained by and remains with the artist.

The finished artwork may be used by the client for display and personal enjoyment. .

No prints or copies shall be made, or profit gained in any way, from the finished artwork by the client, without the express written permission of the artist.

The artist retains the right to use the image for advertising artistic services, through printed adverts (eg. flyers) and digital/social media (e.g. website, Facebook).

(If you would like to refrain from the artist using images of your commissioned work for advertising, then the artist will be happy to keep them private).

The artist reserves the right to make reasonable changes to these Terms & Conditions at any time. A record is kept of any such changes and dates implemented.
